Admittedly, it is a struggle to forgive someone who has wronged you where you have suffered a loss or hurt. You can easily become offended if someone takes advantage of you, has promised to do something and renigs, or owes a debt.
But did you know that harboring unforgiveness can lead to roots of resentment, bitterness, anger, and rage? And these emotions can result in health challenges. Additionally it can kill your blessings, hinder your prayers, and block God from forgiving you. Mariane Williamson says, “Unforgiveness is like drinking poison yourself. and waiting for the other person to die.”
Forgiveness by definition is the act of pardoning an offender. “It is a conscious deliberate decision to release feelings of vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness.”
