HOW TO WEATHER THE STORMS IN LIFE

You are not in the storm (i.e. financial, relational, physical, etc.) alone. Realize that the Greater One lives on the inside of you as a believer. And at times the storms that we go through are not for breaking us but to mold and test us until we are proven to be all that He has crafted us to be. He’s molding and shaping us to be like Him. Our storms show up to see what we are made of. Do we allow ourselves to be frustrated, angry, or give up during the challenges OR do we realize and have an AHA moment? Realize that God is up to something during the test so let’s ASK Him, what are you trying to teach me? There is a lesson to be learned through every storm in life. He brings us to it to GO and GROW through it. This is “How to Weather the Storms in Life”…

Passages for Reflection: Philippians 4:4-13; Proverbs 3:6; St. Luke 23:26-28

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. 10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ[a] who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:4-13)

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct[a] your paths. (Proverbs 3:6)

26 Now as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, and on him, they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus.27 And a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him. 28 But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. (Luke 23:26-28)

You will have challenges that you will have to face as you weather the storms in life.

But you can weatherize the storms regardless of confusion, unpleasant situations, physical pain, and strife.

As a warning do not panic and be terrified by your adversary.

Don’t you dare allow the devil to give you a pity-party.

But as you go through circumstances cast all of your burdens on Jesus for He cares for you today.

Don’t let the devil steal your joy, but rejoice in the Lord always.

Think on praise, things that are honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, and pray about everything.

Learn to be content with God in circumstances that are happening in your life regardless of what tomorrow may bring.

And in all thy ways acknowledge the Lord and He shall direct thy paths for His word is tried and true.

To weather the storms of life, remember you can do all things through Christ who empowers you.

And isn’t it encouraging to see and know that we are made better and stronger coming out on the other side? It’s a process to realize that all that you go through is not for you. But it may be for you to share your story and give comfort to someone just as you were comforted by God while going through. How are you able to endure your times of testing? Imagine yourself rehearsing what you would say about how God has brought you through…while you’re in the storm. You’ve got to see it, believe it, and then you will receive it. When I did it, the process wasn’t the same all the time. Real talk, sometimes I delayed going to God immediately. Yet, when I would come to myself and realize that God is the only one who could get me out of this storm, my preparation for rehearsing the testimony while Resting On His Promises would begin.

Be encouraged because you are going to live through this moment to be an encouragement to someone else. Live through it, go through it, and grow through your storm. You can do all things through Christ who empowers you. Just like Job, there is life after the storm (i.e. loss of children, livestock, and property) passes. Remember, Job prayed for his three friends and God gave him double for his trouble. I pray for restoration and a release of double blessings and double doors be opened for you, in the name of Jesus. When you come out of your storm then go share your story on how you overcame.
