BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN YOUR CHILD

The real challenge that many of our young people face right now is having a lack of confidence. And this can greatly impact their future. Let me ask you a series of questions to see if you have seen your child or a youth struggling with any of these issues. Does your child feel like they don’t fit into a particular group? Do they say things like, ‘I’m not smart enough to do that?’ Have they tried to adjust themselves to keep up with the latest fads/images of their friends? Do they struggle with comparisonitis, low self-esteem, and insecurities? Did you answer “yes” to more than one of the above? These are signs that your child or a youth may be struggling with confidence breakers. However, I know it’s your desire to build confidence in your child or any youth.

I think that every child goes through that period of feeling like they don’t measure up or fit in. And also have a feeling of no one liking them at times among their siblings or peers. So how do we flip the script? We have to go from them engaging in confidence breakers to confidence boosters. If you’re a mom or a caregiver of a child you have a strong desire for your child to be confident in who they are. And we want them to be the best version of themselves as they develop and mature.

Listen, I wish I could say that I had a level of healthy confidence as a child. But I was far from it due to struggling with some dysfunctional family dynamics! So, I’ve gained experience on what should and shouldn’t happen for a child to succeed with increased value, self-esteem, and confidence. Imagine how you can come alongside the young people in your circle of influence when you give them the steps to boost their confidence.
